Chamomile Leaves - Health Benefits, Uses and Important Facts

Chamomile is one of the most well-known wild plants that can be used as medicine. The two most common types are German chamomile and Roman chamomile, which is not as well known (Chamaemelum nobile). Even though they are from different species, herbal pharmacy uses them to treat the same health problems. Both are used to calm nerves, help with stomach problems, stop muscle spasms, and treat a number of skin problems. There are many places where the German variety grows.

Chamomile leaves:

The German variety has light green, feathery leaves that look like ferns. The Roman variety, on the other hand, has leaves that look like parsley and are thicker and flatter than their German counterparts.

Culinary use of Chamomile leaves:

Most of the time, when you think of chamomile, you think of flowers that are white and yellow. But the leaves can also be used to make tea or eaten on their own. Chamomile leaves can be added to salads or made into a soothing tea. Mix them with chopped butter lettuce, olive oil, salt, and a quick spray of lemon juice. They give dishes a light flavour.

How to make Chamomile tea with Chamomile leaves?

Pour hot water into a mug. Mix in a tablespoon of torn leaves and stems. Let the tea steep for ten minutes. Cover the mug with a cloth or a saucer to keep the heat in. Pour it through a strainer into a new mug or chill it and serve it over ice with a splash of apple juice to make it sweeter. It has a stronger taste than flower tea. It's mild, almost grassy, and herbaceous. Very summer-like and nice.
