Clary Sage- Health Benefits, Uses and Important Facts

Clary Sage, sometimes known as "Salvia Sclarea", is an aromatic plant that is used to treat a variety of illnesses, particularly in women. Clary sage oil's effectiveness as an analgesic, antidepressant, and stress reliever in primary dysmenorrhea was verified by contemporary clinical studies. Clary sage has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties. Clary sage oil is additionally recognised as a safe oil that has no negative effects.

BENEFITS OF CLARY SAGE:

Female Sexual Health

Hormone Balance:

Clary Sage is rich in natural “phytoestrogens” – compounds that mimic the effects of oestrogen in the human body. In particular, the essential oil contains sclareol, a substance with an oestrogen-like structure that not only mimics the effects of oestrogen but also encourages the body to generate its own oestrogen. Furthermore, sclareol won't increase oestrogen levels in the body if there isn't an oestrogen insufficiency; this is due to the wisdom of nature.

As a result, sclareol makes sure that hormones are balanced properly, which offers significant relief from PMT (premenstrual tension) and cramps and pain associated with the menstrual cycle.

Childbirth:

It has been established that Clary sage is useful for reducing labour discomfort. Additionally, it was discovered to be successful in lowering maternal worry and anxiety during labour. The usage of systemic opioids in the study centre decreased from 6% in 1990 to 0.4 % in 1997, according to the researchers, who discovered that aromatherapy appeared to help (per woman)

Menopause:

Clary Sage has been the focus of many studies involved in ascertaining the usefulness of essential oils as a natural remedy to menopause symptoms. Inhaling clary sage essential oil was found to lower cortisol levels by 36% and raise thyroid hormone levels. Clary sage essential oil, according to the study's findings, "had a statistically significant effect on reducing cortisol and had an anti-depressant effect enhancing mood in post-menopausal women."

Monoterpenes, monoterpenols, esters, ethers, and sesquiterpenols, which are phytochemicals that balance hormones and have nervine qualities, are abundant in clary sage oil, which helps to minimise hot flushes. Osteoporosis, a disorder that puts menopausal women at an increased risk, is also slowed down by natural phytoestrogens.

Stress Reduction /Remedies Insomnia:

Clary Sage is a naturally calming and soothing essential oil that promotes feelings of serenity and has been shown to lower the stress hormone cortisol. Clary sage oil has a calming effect that can help reduce tension when used in aromatherapy. Inhaling clary sage essential oil produced sensations of calm and helped lower blood pressure.

Skin Health:

The benefits of clary sage for healthy skin are numerous and it contains multiple components that encourage bright skin.

Acne, rosacea, and other skin disorders can be treated with clary sage since it has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties. Always dilute essential oils before using them topically.
