Wild turmeric - Health Benefits, Uses and Important Facts

According to Ayurveda, all we need to do is explore the world around us to uncover the magical elements for glowing skin.

Natural Ayurvedic beauty products have been utilised for generations in India, and one such gem from nature is the plant "Kasturi Manjal," also known as Wild Turmeric, which is known for making the skin glow. Kasturi Manjal is a member of the Curcuma family, which also includes Turmeric, and is utilised for its cosmetic characteristics due to its ability to improve skin tone and texture. Acne, acne scars, hair removal, and skin lightening are just a few of the many benefits that users have reported experiencing after using kasturi turmeric.

What is wild turmeric or Kasturi manjal?

Curcuma aromatica, or Kasturi Manjal, is a kind of wild turmeric that is often used as a beauty aid over much of South Asia. Unlike conventional turmeric, kasturi manjal does not leave a yellowish mark on the skin, hence it is often considered to be the superior form of the spice for topical use.

The light yellow Kasturi Manjal has a harsh flavour and a camphor-like odour. The mystical spice has several beneficial effects, including those of a potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, and antiaging agent.

In addition to these benefits, Kasturi Manjal is an excellent addition to your beauty routine because it can be used on every skin type, including sensitive skin, oily skin, dry skin, tanned skin, and even the skin of newborn newborns without fear of irritation.

Wild turmeric plant description:

The maximum height of the Curcuma aromatica plant is 16 inches. The plant's perennial parts drop off in late autumn, while the rhizome rests through the winter. The plant's inflorescence blooms and expands fast during the monsoon. The pink wild turmeric blooms in the western ghats are one of my favourite things to see on our hikes in the jungle.

The rhizomes, which are a pale yellow, have a powerful, unique scent. The pleasant perfume of wild turmeric may permeate a room even if just a tiny bit of the spice is present. Some of the most prolific producers of kasturi turmeric in India are the states of West Bengal and Kerala. You may probably tell that my favourite type of turmeric is wild turmeric (Kasthuri Manjal), as I named my site after it.

Kasturi manjal's antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, wound-healing, and anti-melanogenic qualities provide it several uses in skin and facial care. Although there are benefits to using any kind of turmeric, wild turmeric reigns supreme when it comes to topical treatments.

Wild turmeric has long been used to treat a broad range of skin conditions, including but not limited to: acne, acne scars, eczema, hyperpigmentation, dark circles, pimples, skin whitening (lightens spots and scars), and luminous skin.

Wild Turmeric Skin & Face Benefits:

Wild turmeric can be used in the form of face packs and bath powders for skin treatment. Both oily and dry skin types can benefit from its usage. Combine it with a conditioning ingredient, such as curd or milk, if your skin is dry. Combine it with rose water if your skin tends to get greasy easily.

What is the difference between Regular and Wild Turmeric?

Wild turmeric differs from other types of turmeric in that it does not leave a yellowish tint on the skin and has a far more pleasant aroma. We exclusively apply wild turmeric to the skin; we don't utilise it in any other way.

Health benefits of wild turmeric:

Wild turmeric has been widely utilised in Indian skin care for its remarkable health and beauty advantages. Acne, acne scars, hair removal, and skin lightening are just a few of the many benefits that users have reported experiencing after using kasturi turmeric. Even infants make heavy use of it.

1. Relieves cough: Taking a teaspoon of wild turmeric powder dissolved in a cup of hot water is an extremely efficient way to alleviate a cough.

2. Antioxidant Capabilities: The free radical damage that causes premature skin and body ageing is reduced by the antioxidant properties found in wild turmeric.

3. Mosquito Repellent Properties: When used topically, wild turmeric's potent anti-mosquito capabilities drastically cut down on mosquito bites.

4. Anti-cancer and anti-tumor properties: When taken internally, the wild turmeric water extract has the same effect as regular turmeric, slowing the proliferation of cancer cells and tumours.

5. Protects kidney: The leaves of the wild turmeric plant, as well as the rhizomes, have therapeutic use and may help protect the kidneys. Nephroprotective effects can be found in a water extract made from the leaves.

6. Heals wounds: Wild turmeric has always been utilised for its remarkable wound healing abilities. In our community, minor cuts and scratches normally heal extremely rapidly once a poultice of turmeric is applied.

7. Anti Inflammatory Properties: Wild turmeric possesses remarkable anti-inflammatory qualities, and topical use of kasturi turmeric has been shown to dramatically decrease inflammation in the affected areas.

8. Anti Melanogenic Properties: The synthesis of melanin, the primary source of skin pigmentation and tanning, is inhibited by kasturi turmeric anti-melanogenic properties, which is yet another wonderful medical usage of this spice.
