Quick and Easy Idli Dosa Batter Sandwich:

Spread dosa batter on a hot grill pan, cook halfway, layer with chutneys, paneer, and veggies, then fold it into a sandwich. Crisp, golden, and ready to eat in minutes!

How to Make Idli Dosa Batter Sandwich:

You’ll need:

  • 1.5 cups idli/dosa batter

  • Chopped onions – 2 tbsp

  • Chopped tomatoes – 2 tbsp

  • Paneer – 1 slab (or 3–4 slices)

  • Green chutney – as needed

  • Garlic chutney – as needed

  • Tomato ketchup – as needed

  • Salt & pepper – to taste

  • Oil – for cooking

Steps:

  1. Heat a grill pan or non-stick pan and grease it lightly with oil.

  2. Pour the batter into a long rectangle shape (roughly sandwich-sized). Keep the thickness medium—not too thin.

  3. Cook on medium heat for 3–4 minutes or until about 80% done.

  4. Make a shallow vertical cut down the center—this will help with folding later.

  5. On each half, spread green chutney, garlic chutney, and ketchup.

  6. Add chopped onions, tomatoes, and place a slab of paneer on one side.

  7. Season with salt and pepper.

  8. Carefully fold the sandwich over and press lightly. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until both sides are golden and crispy.

  9. Slice and serve hot with extra chutney or ketchup.

Expert Tips:

  • Use well-fermented batter for the best flavor and texture.

  • Don’t make the dosa base too thin—it needs to hold fillings.

  • Grill on low-medium heat to avoid burning before it cooks through.

  • For a cheesy twist, add grated cheese before folding.
