This recipe explains how to perform all these steps in detail so that you get the best end results all the time.

How to make Sandwich Bread Loaf

  1. In a bowl mix the milk and water which is slightly lukewarm. Add in a tsp of caster sugar and the yeast, stir everything together to combine and set it aside for the yeast to bloom and activate.
  2. In a large bowl add the flour, followed by the yeast mixture, with 2 tsp of sugar and some salt. Combine it all and knead it into a soft dough. Once the dough is almost complete, add the butter onto it and mix it in completely.
  3. Grease the bowl with oil and transfer it into a greased bowl, covered with cling wrap. Let it proof for 1-1.5 hrs or until doubled in size.
  4. Once the dough is proofed, take it out of the bowl on a surface dusted with flour. Spread it out with a rolling pin and roll it tightly into a log. Place the log into a loaf baking tin and brush it with some melted butter. Cover it with another pan or a damp cloth and proof it in a 75 degree oven for 30 minutes.
  5. Once the dough is doubled, take it out of the oven and preheat the oven to 175 degree celsius. Bake the bread without a cover in the preheated oven for 35- 45 minutes or until golden brown from the top.
  6. Once out of the oven, take it out of the mould and let it cool completely over a cooling rack before slicing into it.
